Transforming Chaos into Clarity: A Digital HQ for a Mission-Driven Organization
What started as a scattered set of outdated SharePoint sites became a full-scale transformation of how Bezos Academy communicates, collaborates, and operates. Over six months, we built a modern intranet from the ground up architected for clarity, speed, and ownership. The solution replaced email chains, reduced support tickets, and gave every team a space they could actually use and control.
As Lead Designer and Systems Architect, I partnered across departments to deliver a system that worked for everyone from frontline educators to executive leadership. This was about more than navigation or UI it was a cultural shift powered by intuitive design, modular systems, and ruthless focus on usability.

Designing for Scale, Not Just Style
System Thinking, Built for Growth
We approached this like building infrastructure, not styling content. Through field observations and user interviews, we uncovered key friction points: buried information, inconsistent access, and outdated pages. The solution: a scalable information architecture built on modular design, smart metadata, and a ruthless two-click rule.
We grouped content by purpose not politics. Whether you needed a handbook, a form, or a teammate, you could find it fast. This wasn’t just intranet design it was operations design.

Collaboration That Doesn’t Break
From Gatekeeping to Ownership
We broke the cycle of “just ask IT.” By giving every department their own space with edit access, templates, and training we built a culture of content ownership, not bottlenecks.
Our process included weekly feedback loops, a power-user beta squad, and live “build with us” workshops that kept the rollout responsive and real. We didn’t just deliver a product we created momentum. Departments now manage their own content. IT finally has breathing room. And the intranet lives because people use it.

Real Results, Not Vanity Metrics
What Changed When It Actually Worked
Once the new intranet went live, the metrics showed what mattered:
79% fewer “where’s that file?” tickets
62% increase in unique logins and active file views
90% of departments now fully self-manage their pages
Onboarding time for new hires reduced by 48%
Beyond the numbers, we saw a culture shift. The intranet became a trusted tool not a corporate graveyard. It saved time, built trust, and made work simpler. That’s the win.
